Library Picks

I don't pretend that this is the ultimate booklist.  In fact, it isn't even a list of my favorite books.  We go to the library every week and pick out a stack of books and every week, two of them are featured on this website.  I may throw in a few from our personal library now and again.  Ultimately this page will be a great resource, but for now I only offer a few suggestions...

Do YOU Have a Hat?
Meet some famous people from history and the unusual hats that they wore.  Short, rhyming text with a fun, repeated phrase, "Do YOU have a hat?"
Adam, Adam, What do You See?
From the author of "Brown Bear, "Brown Bear, What do you see?" comes this new classic that introduces characters from the Old and New Testament.  Beautifully illustrated, this is one I'll keep my eye out for in the bookstore.
Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam
Words to the traditional song, with beautiful illustrations. My children especially loved this one.
 Down by the Station
Trains, baby zoo animals, and singable text. What more could you ask for?
The Story of Shoes
I love it when my children love non-fiction books. This one features a short history of shoemaking. It features full-page illustrations that my children loved.
Please, Baby, Please
"Mommy, why did the girl eat the sand? Mommy, why did the girl want to put her diaper in the toy box?" The words are cute, but the pictures are fantastic.

Itsy Bitsy Spider
I love books that I can sing to my children! Written to the meter of the popular song, you will meet several barn-animals, hear what they say (ie, moo), and see what color they are. The spider's web is glittery!

If I Built a Car
My son is always talking about the fancy features of his flying moterhome. This book was written for him!

 Shape by Shape

Feel simple, die cut shapes on every page and watch a brachiosaurus emerge at the end!  This book was ingenious in it's design.

Do Not Open This Book
A spunky little pig is working on an unfinished book and doesn't want to be disturbed. Words are unpredictably scattered as you turn the pages, but in the end, reading the book is the best thing that could have happened to him. NOW GO AWAY!
